A soft, smooth gel made from hyaluronic acid - a substance your skin makes naturally - placed under the skin to replace lost volume, refine contour or gently define a feature like the cheeks, lips, chin or jaw.
It's a medical treatment, so it always starts with a face to face consultation with our prescriber. And because it's hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved if ever needed.

Your visit

Filler is careful work, not a rush job. Allow around 45 minutes so your prescriber can plan, place and check every millilitre.

We chat first
Your prescriber assesses your face in proportion, talks through what's realistic, and maps a plan around balance and your natural features - not a trend.

The treatment
Numbing cream or a filler that contains anaesthetic keeps you comfortable. It's placed with a fine needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, building slowly and checking as we go.

How it feels after
Expect some swelling, tenderness and occasionally a little bruising at the injection points. Lips in particular can swell noticeably for the first day or two.

Downtime? A little
Most people head straight back to their day, but plan for some visible swelling or bruising over the next few days. It's not the moment for a big event tomorrow.

Straight after
Added volume is visible immediately - though some early swelling can make it look a little fuller than the final result.

First 24-72 hours
Swelling and any bruising are at their most noticeable, then start to ease. Tenderness settles over the same few days.

Around 2 weeks
The filler has settled and softened into place - this is your true result. We'll usually see you for a review to check you're happy.

6-18 months
Filler is gradually broken down by your body. How long it lasts depends on the product and area - a top-up maintains the look.

Aftercare

Do
- ✓ Keep the area clean and stay well hydrated
- ✓ Sleep slightly propped up on the first night to ease swelling
- ✓ Use a cool compress if it feels swollen or tender
- ✓ Contact us straight away if you have unusual or increasing pain, or blanching skin
Avoid
- × Touching, pressing or massaging the area unless we ask you to
- × Strenuous exercise, saunas, steam and hot yoga for 24-48 hours
- × Alcohol for 24 hours - it worsens swelling and bruising
- × Facials, other injectables and dental work for around 2 weeks

How long does dermal filler last?
It depends on the product and the area treated - anywhere from around 6 to 18 months. Areas that move a lot, like the lips, tend to break the filler down faster. Your body gradually absorbs it, so a top-up maintains the look. We'll give you a realistic estimate for your treatment at consultation.
Does it hurt?
Most people find it very manageable. We use numbing cream and many fillers contain a local anaesthetic, so you'll mostly feel pressure rather than pain. Some areas are more sensitive than others, and a little tenderness afterwards is normal - we'll keep you comfortable throughout.
Will it look obvious or overdone?
Not with us. We build slowly and conservatively, checking balance as we go, so the aim is a refreshed, natural version of you rather than anything obvious. Because it's hyaluronic acid, filler can also be dissolved if you're ever unhappy - a genuine safety net that lets us take a measured approach.
