Skin peel treatment at Wilbury Clinic

Matched to your skin.

The honest bit

What it is, and
who it's for.

Straight talk before we treat a single pore. If a peel isn't right for your skin right now, we'll say so - and suggest something better.

What it is

A professional-strength solution applied to cleansed skin for a few minutes to gently loosen and lift away dull, tired surface cells - encouraging fresher, more even skin to come through underneath.

We choose the type and strength to suit your skin and concern, and always start with a consultation and skin assessment.

Good for you if
  • Your skin looks dull, tired or a bit lacklustre
  • You want smoother texture and a more even tone
  • You're bothered by congestion, dullness or early sun damage
  • You're happy to follow the aftercare and wear SPF daily
Not for you if
  • You're pregnant or breastfeeding - we'll wait or adapt
  • You have active cold sores, eczema or broken skin in the area
  • You've had recent sun exposure, sunbeds or fresh tan
  • You're using strong actives like retinoids without a break - we'll advise

Your visit

A quick tingle,
a real glow.

The appointment is around 30-45 minutes. The peel itself sits on your skin for just a few minutes before we neutralise and soothe it.

A practitioner preparing a skin peel at Wilbury Clinic
  1. We chat first

Your practitioner assesses your skin, talks through your concerns and history, and selects the right peel and strength for you - never a one-size-fits-all.

  2. The treatment

We double-cleanse, then apply the peel solution in careful layers. Most people feel a warm tingle or mild stinging that builds and eases as it works.

  3. How it feels after

Skin can look pink and feel tight or warm for a few hours, a little like mild sunburn. Depending on the peel, light flaking may follow over the next few days.

  4. Downtime? It depends

Superficial peels mean minimal downtime - back to normal quickly. Stronger peels can flake or peel for several days. We'll tell you exactly what to expect for yours.

Results

What to expect,
when.

One peel gives you a fresh glow. Deeper concerns like tone, texture and congestion respond best to a course - results build session by session.

  1. First few days

Skin may feel tight and look a little pink, then start to renew - some peels bring light flaking as the surface refreshes. Completely normal.

  2. After one peel

Once any flaking settles, skin tends to look brighter, feel smoother and reflect light more evenly. Makeup often sits better too.

  3. Through a course

For pigmentation, texture or congestion, a course of peels - typically spaced around 2-4 weeks apart - builds clearer, more even results over time.

  4. Longer term

Results are maintained with good homecare and daily SPF. Many people top up with an occasional peel to keep skin fresh.

Results vary from person to person - the right peel, the number of sessions and the spacing will be assessed honestly at your consultation.

Aftercare

Keep the glow going.

Simple rules, big difference. We'll give you the full rundown on the day - here's the short version.

Do

  • Keep skin clean, gently hydrated and calm
  • Wear SPF 30+ every day - freshly peeled skin is extra sun-sensitive
  • Let any flaking shed naturally as skin renews
  • Stick to a simple, soothing routine for the first few days

Avoid

  • × Picking, peeling or scrubbing at any flaking skin
  • × Direct sun, sunbeds and fake tan while skin recovers
  • × Hot baths, saunas, steam and heavy workouts for 24-48 hours
  • × Retinoids, acids, scrubs and strong actives for a few days, as advised

Questions

Asked all
the time.

Will my skin actually peel and flake?

It depends on the peel. Lighter, superficial peels often cause little more than mild flaking or none at all. Stronger peels can bring visible flaking and shedding over several days. Either way it's part of the process - just don't pick at it, and let it fall away on its own.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe a warm tingling or mild stinging that builds while the peel is on and eases quickly once it's neutralised. Stronger peels feel more intense. It's a short, manageable sensation rather than genuine pain, and we stay with you throughout.

How many peels will I need?

One peel gives a lovely fresh glow, perfect before an event. For concerns like uneven tone, texture or congestion, a course - often spaced around 2-4 weeks apart - gives the best, longer-lasting results. We'll recommend a realistic plan at your consultation.
